The two Armchair Travelling mixes are from 2002.
These are actually the first downtempo mixes that I ever put on CD-R and shared with friends. I was doing two different radio shows in Sydney at the time, and the mood of each disc reflects the different style of those shows.
- Volume 1: Day Trip is a freestyle mix that reflects my obsession at that point with the Freezone series of compilations by Paris DJ Morpheus, especially the warm, spacey style of lounge music pioneered by Kruder & Dorfmeister. Looking back there's also some rather too obvious selections in the mix - tracks like the chillout remix of Moby's "Go" that seemed to pop up on every damn chillout compilation from the early 2000's - but I hope you enjoy it anyway.
- Volume 2: Night Trip is late night mood music, and you might notice some tracks - including *that* Popol Vuh sample - that I have used in other Ambient Music Guide mixes since then (l'm not normally into repeating myself). Like Volume 1, there are some well-known artists - Underworld, Vangelis, Brian Eno - alongside some little gems awaiting your discovery. If you've never heard the epic Black Mountain mix of Banco De Gaia's "Shanti" you're in for a treat.
